My paper "To Bean or Not to Bean? The Ironic Political Economy of Vanilla Production" was presented at the annual meeting of the Society for the Social Studies of Science in October of 1997. The paper examined the impact of certain aspects of biotechnology on world vanilla production and was written in collaboration with Jennifer Croissant.
